Android Smartphone Review: Honor 8X

One of the new smartphone brands that were present at the beginning of 2018 is the Honor brand, where it is unmitigated directly presenting a variety of new types of devices, ranging from entry classes to premium classes owned by them. Even though it is not as popular as other big brands, Honor is able to prove itself with the presence of a variety of upper-middle-class devices that have qualified specifications with good performance. Before closing in 2018, Honor presented another new device, the Honor 8X. Claimed as Honor's "hero" device, the Honor 8X comes with specifications, performance, cameras, and batteries that are believed to be able to meet the lifestyle needs of today's young generation, especially for Indonesia's young generation.

Design

A glimpse of the main design of the Honor 8X, some may remember the design of the Huawei Nova 3i which has more or less the same appearance as this smartphone. Only, the rear body does not carry the color gradation trend, but still provides two different color tones that can be clearly seen by limiting a vertical straight line down. The rear body design itself reminds us of the previous Lenovo Vibe Shot smartphone design, so if the smartphone is positioned horizontally, the rear body looks like a digital pocket camera instead of a smartphone, which makes the Honor 8X body design unique.
The material used for the body itself consists of glass material that looks elegant. But to avoid spotting or fingerprints that make it dirty, it would be advisable to use an additional soft case. The color variants that will be presented for this device will consist of Black, Blue, and Red. In this test, we got the color Blue. The key and main operation of the Honor 8X is quite standard, with the main physical button in the form of a volume and power button (on / off) located on the right side of the smartphone, while the left side is a dedicated dual SIM / microSD card slot so users can use all three at once.
The Honor 8X has a 6.5-inch screen that is compacted on a 5.5-inch smartphone with Full HD + resolution and a 19: 9 Full View display ratio. The super thin bezel of the only 4.25mm allows the screen to be more spacious and spacious for a variety of activities. Honor 8X is also the first smartphone of this brand that has TUV Rheinland Eye Comfort certification where smartphone screens can reduce eye risk while protecting and providing convenience to the eyes of its users.

Honor 8X uses HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC consisting of 4xA73 and 4xA53, equipped with Mali-G51 GPU, 4GB RAM and 128GB storage capacity which can still be added up to 400GB with an external microSD. Users can embed two SIM cards together with a microSD card thanks to 3 separate non-hybrid trays. To improve performance, especially in games, Honor 8X will also get GPU Turbo which will be activated automatically when it detects certain applications or games.

Honor 8X has a dual main camera with a resolution of 20MP + 2MP with an opening f / 1.8 and is equipped with AIS Honor where the camera is claimed to be able to capture photos in Night or low light conditions with brighter without reducing the authenticity or natural impression on the photo. Camera

As a current smartphone that uses two rear cameras with 20 MP + 2 MP resolution, Honor 8X is capable of capturing interesting details and color contrast. Equipped with AI technology on the camera, where this technology is one of the main points favored by Honor on this new product, it will certainly make smartphones capable of capturing photos with better color sharpness and lighting contrast. The rear camera that has an f / 1.8 opening and PDAF feature is also capable of taking pictures quickly enough when the shutter button is pressed so that it will make it easier for them to take a candid moment.
